9 minute dreams

Apparently, my alarm clock has a strange feature on it. There is a little trap door at the top in which is housed a tiny white flag. I awoke the other morning to my cell phone alarm to see it waving at me. Well...maybe it was just one of those 9 min dreams that I have so many of. When you are waiting on Rebecca to get up, you get to have alot of those 9 minute sleep sessions. It is pretty amazing what your mind can conjure up in 9 minutes when you are holding on to that last little bit of sleep.

So, I started thinking about words that I could look up in the concordance of my study bible. One word and set of verses lead to another and I came up with idea of the alarm clock as a sounding trumpet. It also fit considering the poor thing had to wave a surrender flag it was put on snooze so many times. Anyways, I enjoyed reading Psalm 98, specifically 4-6. 4 "Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. 5 Sing to the LORD with the harp, With the harp and the sound of a psalm. 6 With trumpets and the sound of a horn; Shout joyfully before the LORD, the King." I am not necessarily saying that you need to get up tomorrow and shout. You might start quite the commotion in the household. However, God is Savior, King, and a righteous Judge. So the next time you hit the snooze start your day with rejoicing and praise to the LORD, for He is faithful and merciful.

How it all began

For those of you that know the Hatfields, you are already chuckling with understanding. For those of you that do not know us, welcome and hope you enjoy. First of all, this will probably not be one of those blogs that you will need to check daily for updates. I mean it has been a couple of months since I created my home page. I'm just not that good, and there is only one computer in this household. I do however promise to blog more than my current average.

My wife, like many other others out there, is addicted to blogging. So much so, that it started to rub off on me. I started to think of everyday events as posts on her blog. I would think of titles and catchy phrases to use. This summer we were on a mission trip to H... to central Montana. While on this trip some of the team started to notice a theme when I was standing around...you guessed it. I was Waiting on Rebecca. Since my wife and one of her great friends on this trip were so in to blogging, this immediately became my idea for a blog. So, in the following posts I hope you will enjoy some of my revelations while I was waiting on Rebecca.

1 Peter 3:7 says, "Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding..." I hope to learn my wife as I have followed her into the world of blogging.

Honorable Mention

While we were in Central Montana and the idea of this blog title was being "tossed around", okay maybe we were having a little too much fun with it every little time we were waiting on Rebecca. So to ease the tension there undoubtedly came some contenders to the title. One title suggestion, "Worth the Wait", was good but just not the direction this blog was headed. However, "worth the wait" reminded me of a time I was waiting on Rebecca.

It was quite a hot summer morning. I had so many errands to run, so much to do. Family and friends were visiting. I couldn't wait to see Rebecca. My mind went back to all the things that needed to be done, all that should be in place. Too late now. I took a "go get em" and a slap on the gluteus as I took my place on stage. It is so nice to see all my friends and family, but I can't wait to see Rebecca. While I was waiting, somewhere in between anxiety and excitement, the music changed and heads turned. Finally there was my beautiful fiance, in her beautiful wedding dress, walking towards me. Boy, was she worth the wait!

You know Gen. 2:24 says, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." To this day, God has not shown me a site to take my breath away like she did that day. There is no doubt why God has given such a special gift as marriage.
